Horse Engagement Photos in Northeast Ohio | Lauren & Nathan

One of my favorite pieces of advice I give couples when planning their engagement session is to choose a location that means something to you. While parks and popular photo locations are always beautiful, there’s something so special about documenting this season of life in a place that already holds so many memories.

For Lauren and Nathan, that place was home.

The two recently purchased their home together, where they’ve started building a life filled with wide open fields, peaceful evenings, and, of course, their horses. As soon as Lauren told me she wanted to incorporate them into their engagement session, I couldn’t wait. It was the perfect way to tell their story.

From the moment I arrived, it was easy to see how much this property means to them. Their horses wandered through the pasture as Lauren and Nathan laughed together, walked hand in hand, and enjoyed the place they get to call home. Nothing felt forced or staged. It simply felt like them.

One of the things I loved most about this session was how naturally everything unfolded. The horses would occasionally wander into the frame, creating moments that couldn’t have been planned. Those little in-between moments often become my favorite images because they capture real life, and years from now, those are the memories that will mean the most.

I also loved that Lauren and Nathan chose two outfits for their session. Their casual look felt relaxed and perfectly matched the atmosphere of the property, while Lauren’s white dress and Nathan’s button-down gave their gallery a timeless, romantic feel. Having two outfits adds variety to your gallery while still allowing your photos to feel cohesive.

Their engagement session is such a great reminder that your photos don’t have to be taken at the most popular location to be beautiful. Sometimes the most meaningful backdrop is your own front yard, your family farm, your favorite hiking trail, or the place where you spend your evenings together. Those locations tell your story in a way that no scenic overlook ever could.

As a Northeast Ohio wedding photographer, I love helping couples dream up engagement sessions that reflect who they are instead of simply recreating photos they’ve seen online. Whether that means bringing your dog, visiting your favorite coffee shop, hiking to your favorite overlook, or including your horses like Lauren and Nathan did, those personal touches are what make your gallery truly one of a kind.

Your engagement session is about so much more than beautiful photos. It’s about documenting this chapter before your wedding day and preserving the little details that make your relationship unique.

Lauren and Nathan’s session was full of genuine smiles, quiet moments, and so much joy. It was such an honor to spend the evening with them on their property, and I left even more excited to photograph their wedding.

Lauren and Nathan, thank you for welcoming me into your home and trusting me to capture such a meaningful season of your lives. I cannot wait to celebrate with you both on your wedding day!

Thinking About Your Own Engagement Session?

If you’re planning your engagement photos, I encourage you to think about places that tell your story. Maybe it’s the home you just bought together, a family farm, the place where you got engaged, or somewhere you’ve made countless memories.

The best engagement sessions aren’t about choosing the trendiest location. They’re about choosing a place where you can relax, be yourselves, and create images that will bring you right back to this season every time you look at them.

If you’re looking for a Northeast Ohio wedding photographer who loves creating meaningful, personal engagement sessions, I’d love to help you tell your story. I can’t wait to hear what makes your relationship uniquely yours.
